Video Production for Art Documentation
Production of documentary films centered on artist practices, studio environments, and exhibition contexts. Commissions include artist interview films, studio visit documentation, and exhibition films that capture the spatial and temporal dimensions of installations and artworks in situ.
Each project is approached with attention to narrative clarity, visual continuity, and an understanding of how film functions as both documentation and interpretive medium. We consider lighting, pacing, and compositional choices to produce work that honors the artist’s voice and practice while maintaining analytical precision. Location, spatial relationships, and material qualities are carefully documented to create a coherent record of the work and person.
The resulting films are produced for institutional archives, exhibition presentations, digital platforms, press, and educational use. They function as primary documentation, preserving ephemeral or site-specific practices, while operating as independent works that communicate the complexity of artistic process and institutional context to diverse audiences.
What We Offer
Artist Studio Visits
Cinematic documentation of artists at work in their studios. We capture creative process, workspace, and the artist’s relationship to their materials, producing visual narratives senstive to their artistic practice.
Artist Interviews
Thoughtfully conducted, professionally produced interviews with artists about their work, guiding philosophy, influences, and career trajectory. Ideal for exhibition materials, institutional archives, and online platforms.
Exhibition Documentation Videos
Video walkthroughs of exhibitions and installations. Spatial documentation that captures how work functions within its context.
Production & Deliverables
We handle all aspects of production: pre-production planning, filming, sound recording, and editing. Deliverables typically include some combination of the following:
- Final edited video (in formats suitable for web, exhibition, or broadcast)
- Still photographic packages (useful for ensuring continuity in promotional materials)
- Raw footage archives (for institutional records or future use)
Timeline and budget are customized to your project scope and institutional needs.
Bilingual Production
We conduct interviews and English and Spanish. Where translation is needed, we are sensitive to both regional linguistic variation in Mexico, as well as the complexities presented by the differences between American English and international English usage.
Our Process
We listen carefully to each artist’s perspective and let their voice shape the narrative. During pre-production, we discuss creative direction and interview structure. Throughout filming, we remain attentive to moments that reveal genuine artistic practice. In post-production, we’re deliberate about pacing, color grading, and sound design as applied to the story.
You’re involved in key creative decisions, and we keep you informed about editing direction and timeline.
